What’s the best use of your time?

It happened to me just the other day…my website needed updating.  I know how to do it but instead I forwarded the information onto my assistant and had her take care of it.  Updating my website was vital and it was going to help me promote a variety of programs but was it the best use of my time?

Chaos to Cash Strategy:

“Just because you are capable of something doesn’t mean you should spend your time and energy doing it.

Only do the things that require your specific expertise and that nobody else can do for you.  Only work on the things that yield the biggest return on your investment of time and let other people do the rest.”

Don’t do it…it’ll derail your day

Famous last words:  “It’ll only take a moment…” and before you know it you’re running late, you don’t get the things you need to do done and your whole day is shot.

Chaos to Cash Strategy:

“Squeeze-ins” are the things you do before you do what you’re supposed to be doing.

For instance that “one quick phone call” you make before you leave for a meeting is a squeeze-in.

Squeeze-ins seem innocuous but they can derail your entire day.

Start catching yourself; is what you’re doing a squeeze-in?”

Who’s the boss here anyway?

Our things and our ideas often take on a life of their own and we can end up treating them better than we do ourselves.  You may dedicate days (or weekends) to getting your things in order or you may spend your time working on an idea that may be good but not the idea that’s going to make the biggest difference for you or your business.  Think about this…when was the last time you gave yourself a whole day or weekend to do exactly what you WANTED to do or work on the project that mattered most to you?

Chaos to Cash Strategy:

“You own your things and you own your ideas.  You are the boss.   Therefore, it’s up to you whether or not you decide to keep them or do them.”
