It’s frustrating, isn’t it?

One of the most frustrating things I experience is when I have a bunch of great ideas but can’t decide which to do.  When this happens, I watch time pass by while none of my “great ideas” come to life all because I never picked one to do.

Chaos to Cash Strategy:

Profitability comes when you take your idea, make a plan and follow through.

Unless you are following through on your idea, your projects don’t get completed, your programs don’t get filled and the clients, that need to be working with you, won’t find you.

You’re better off moving forward on the wrong project than on none at all.

It’s time to stop sitting on it

My coach says that indecision is a form of self abuse.  When it comes to your business, indecision can also lead to an empty bank account.  How many decisions are lying around your desk or swirling around your brain?  If you don’t decide YES or NO the decision stays in limbo and you’re left unsure of your next steps or doing the wrong things.

Chaos to Cash Strategy:

It’s time to decide!

How long have you been saying, “I’ll make that decision later”?

Where has it gotten you?

I’m notorious for skipping this step

Do you do this too?  You put in the work.  You have a success.  You cross something big (or small) off your list.  You make the call you’ve wanted to make.  You finish a project.  You launch a program.  You enroll a client.  Then the next thing you do is see what’s next.  What else do you have to do?  What else has been sitting around for what seems like forever waiting to be done?  Or maybe you think…great one client, I NEED five more.

Chaos to Cash Strategy:

Our tendency is to look at what there is left to do instead of what we have done.

When you finish a task, no matter how big or how small, take a moment to celebrate.

Recognize yourself and the work that you have put in to accomplish it.

Confession time

Confession time:  I had a deadline in place to have this message written, but I found myself down to the wire writing it at the last minute.  Why?  Because I never made the time to sit down to write it.

Chaos to Cash Strategy:

Deadlines are great when you have projects to do, but the most important part is to schedule time to do the project.

Otherwise, you’ll either run around like crazy just before it’s due, or you’ll miss the deadline altogether.

Don’t you have enough to do already?

Have you ever met an entrepreneur with nothing to do?  Me neither!  In fact, if you’re like every business owner I’ve ever met you have an overflowing list.  What’s more is on top of that list of new ideas, new requests come at you all the time.  Here’s the scoop…you can’t nor should you do it all.

Chaos to Cash Strategy:

Take control of your to-do list.  Before you add anything to the list, ask yourself, “What’s the worst thing that could happen if this doesn’t ever get done?”

Whose priority is it anyway?

I experience it all the time and I bet you do, too.  You’ve got a very clear plan for your day.  You sit down and get started and then the phone rings, or you “do email” and before you know it your plan and your day are gone.  You’ve been going full force all day but didn’t get any of your priorities — the things that will take your business to the next level — done.

Chaos to Cash Strategy:

When going through mail, messages and emails, consider:  Did you ask for this information, or is it something another person is pushing on you?

In other words, whose priority is it?
Yours or theirs?

What’s the best use of your time?

It happened to me just the other day…my website needed updating.  I know how to do it but instead I forwarded the information onto my assistant and had her take care of it.  Updating my website was vital and it was going to help me promote a variety of programs but was it the best use of my time?

Chaos to Cash Strategy:

“Just because you are capable of something doesn’t mean you should spend your time and energy doing it.

Only do the things that require your specific expertise and that nobody else can do for you.  Only work on the things that yield the biggest return on your investment of time and let other people do the rest.”

Don’t do it…it’ll derail your day

Famous last words:  “It’ll only take a moment…” and before you know it you’re running late, you don’t get the things you need to do done and your whole day is shot.

Chaos to Cash Strategy:

“Squeeze-ins” are the things you do before you do what you’re supposed to be doing.

For instance that “one quick phone call” you make before you leave for a meeting is a squeeze-in.

Squeeze-ins seem innocuous but they can derail your entire day.

Start catching yourself; is what you’re doing a squeeze-in?”

Who’s the boss here anyway?

Our things and our ideas often take on a life of their own and we can end up treating them better than we do ourselves.  You may dedicate days (or weekends) to getting your things in order or you may spend your time working on an idea that may be good but not the idea that’s going to make the biggest difference for you or your business.  Think about this…when was the last time you gave yourself a whole day or weekend to do exactly what you WANTED to do or work on the project that mattered most to you?

Chaos to Cash Strategy:

“You own your things and you own your ideas.  You are the boss.   Therefore, it’s up to you whether or not you decide to keep them or do them.”

One client’s biggest takeaway from private coaching

You know what it’s like.  You’re sitting at your desk totally involved in a project that you are working on and suddenly you hear “DING” and get a notification that “You’ve got mail”.  The result…you stop what you’re doing, look at the email, which might be important to you but usually is not and often lose track of what you were doing.

When this happens the things that you were focusing on and that you had prioritized for your day get relegated to lower positions.  Sometimes you get back to them, oftentimes you don’t as other people and other things pull your attention away from the projects that will grow your business and your life.

Chaos to Cash Strategy:

Avoid distraction and take charge of your email inbox by turning off the audio notification in your email settings.

Very few things truly need to be read immediately. Read more
