It’s Time To Dust Off Your Dream

Over the past few months I’ve been sensing a growing frustration.  I’m being told “I’m on the verge of success if only I could figure out…”

  • What to do first (and of course second and third) so the projects I start get completed.
  • Which marketing and sales strategies will best generate a consistent flow of clients and income.
  • How to get myself to create a plan and actually do those marketing and sales strategies.
  • How to manage all of the moving parts and maintain my sanity.
  • How to get out of my own way, stop procrastinating and just do it.

You have probably realized that a successful business is not just your awesome service.  You need some specific business skills to make sure that people know about your service and buy it.  This is done through marketing, messaging, communication and yes…sales.

However, I’ve noticed that most entrepreneurs forget to recognize the most important piece to having a successful and profitable business.  Themselves…

You are your business and your business is a reflection of you.

As an entrepreneur you are responsible for all of the decisions, for making sure everything gets done, for setting your business and personal goals, and making sure that the steps you need to take get done.  For setting your priorities, managing your time, setting up systems and (here are the biggies) to get and stay focused, stop procrastinating and do it already!

Being your own boss is not easy.  While it’s great to be your own boss I often think it would be easier to just have a job.  But then you’ll be working to achieve someone else’s dream and not yours.

I have created a program for you that is designed to give you the solutions you need to make 2012 the year you take responsibility for your dreams.

The program is called Chaos to Cash Mastery and gives you one-on-one, as well as group, interaction directly with me.

Together we’ll hone your business skills so that you can market and sell your products, programs and services in a way that works for you and the people you want to be working with.

On top of the business skills we’ll work on you.  How to help yourself stop procrastinating.  How to set your priorities and make decisions so that things get done.  And most importantly, how to follow through.

Something you should know…

This program is not free; it’s not a magic bullet nor is it a quick fix.

Chaos to Cash Mastery is for business owners who are ready to roll up their sleeves, stop making excuses and get to work.  Your effort combined with the necessary business skills, personal skills AND the individualized support you will get will enable you to turn your dreams into the business you want with the income you deserve.

Before you head over to www.ChaosToCashMastery.com let me say just one more thing…

You might be someone who looks at the information and says…yes, this is for me.  If that’s you I encourage you to go ahead and sign up now.

If you’re more like me, and want to have a conversation about the program and how it would fit into your life and your business, then click here to sign up for a conversation with me.  I want to make sure to answer all of your questions so that you can make an informed decision.

Here’s to making 2012 the year that your dreams become reality!

It’s Okay To Be Late

I messed up.  I went to an event, made lots of connections and collected many business cards.  When I got home I divided the cards into two piles.  One large pile of people who would simply be added into my database and get an email that was already set up.  The second pile was smaller and was the people who I had connected with personally during the event and needed to follow up with either a phone call or other specific information.

Here’s what happened.  The large pile got into the database and everything went as planned (thankfully I had a system for that).  The smaller pile…well, this is where I messed up.  The pile was pushed to the side and I did not follow up or add them to my main database.  Two months later, the “high priority” people that I connected with had yet to hear from me.

Having spoken to hundreds of other business owners over the years, I know that what I did is not unusual.  Things fall through the cracks, you get distracted by other “important to-do’s”, you don’t really know what to say or how to follow up, or you don’t have systems in place.  Whatever…it really doesn’t matter why but what’s important to realize is that the people that YOU want to stay in touch with never entered your life.  End result…you don’t grow your connections, you feel guilty, you break your word, the people who need your help don’t get it and you don’t grow your business.

Here’s what I did.  I ‘fessed up. Read more

5 Steps To Ending Procrastination

I was at a party recently and ran into a woman I’ve known for years.  She is a friend and a former client.  As we stood talking over a tasty treat she told me that, despite the work we’ve done together, she still procrastinates.  I replied…”Yeah, me too.”  She looked at me, shocked and said, “I can’t believe it.  You do so much!  There’s NO WAY, you Procrastinators Meetingprocrastinate.”

So here’s the cold hard truth.  Yes, I procrastinate.  In fact I’m a master procrastinator and I’m not alone.  According to studies done on procrastination (I wonder how long those took to complete!) 95% of all people procrastinate.  My personal belief is that the other 5% of the population are lying.  Oh and according to those same studies, 25% of us are chronic procrastinators.  Yes, you can put me in that 25%.

Just because everyone procrastinates does not mean it is okay.  Procrastination is bad for business, bad for profits and bad for you.

It’s kind of obvious that procrastination costs us time, energy and money and I can give you a lot of examples about how, but there are two things that are even worse that we tend to forget.

1.    You’re being selfish.  The people who we are “supposed” to be helping don’t get the help that they need.  You know the book that you’ve been meaning to write?  Well, the person who needs to read it can’t.  You know that person who you met at a networking event that you’ve been meaning to follow up with about your program?  Well, that person isn’t getting the support they need to move forward. Why it doesn’t get done

I bet plenty of the things you do are “no brainers”.  You are psyched to them and have no problem doing. Then, there are the “other things”.  It could be picking up the phone and calling a prospective client, writing an article for your ezine, creating a program that you’ve been meaning to do forever or something “easy” like answering a single email.

These are the things you know you’re “supposed” to do but somehow never get around to doing.  The things that you put on your to-do list time and time again but never cross off.  Or you plan to do just as soon as you get a 3-hour block of time.

The problem is that when you don’t get around to doing these tasks you, and your business run, the real risk of stagnating or maybe not even starting.  You don’t create programs, you don’t bring in new clients, you don’t market your business, and you don’t bring in income.

Here’s the cold hard truth…no amount of wishing will get these things done, you need a plan, but not any plan because we both know that you’ve made plans before.  You need a plan that takes you into consideration.  Who you are, what needs to be done and what is the best way for YOU to do it.

Here are 7 strategies that my clients and I use regularly to help us get ourselves motivated and moving.  I encourage you to try a couple of them so that you can carry through and finally cross those “shoulds” off of your to-do list.

Plant Your Seeds Wisely

Ali Brown is a business coach and has created a remarkable business.  It’s very clear that she has worked very hard and has both, created opportunities for herself, and taken advantage of many opportunities that were offered her.  During Ali’s SHINE event in Dallas she taught a session about the importance of taking advantage of opportunities that are offered to you and moving out of fear.  For the most part I think Ali was right, but there is something she said that is making me uncomfortable and I wanted to share it with you.

Ali used a farming analogy and spoke about planting all of the seeds (or taking advantage of all of the opportunities) you have because you never know where they will lead.  On the surface this makes a lot of sense because if you don’t plant them, they can’t grow but here’s the thing that’s been nagging at me.

Continuing with the farming analogy, imagine what would happen if you plant every seed (or take advantage of all the opportunities).  The way I see it is one of two things happen…

Time To Take A Breather?

I hate to break it to you, but you’re not unique.  We all have tons of ideas.  In fact, many of your ideas can change the course of your business and bring you the success you crave.  The problem is two-fold.  First, with so many fabulous ideas you often find yourself overwhelmed, not knowing which path is the “right” path to follow and second, when you decide which path to follow actually following it.

Chaos to Cash Strategy:

Having an idea is great, but it’s action that turns your idea into reality.

Here’s the deal:  Unless you act on your idea, it just sits there doing nothing.

You are better off taking many small steps over time than waiting for the day that you’ll have the time to get it all done.

Take a step – any step – and start building momentum.

It’s frustrating, isn’t it?

One of the most frustrating things I experience is when I have a bunch of great ideas but can’t decide which to do.  When this happens, I watch time pass by while none of my “great ideas” come to life all because I never picked one to do.

Chaos to Cash Strategy:

Profitability comes when you take your idea, make a plan and follow through.

Unless you are following through on your idea, your projects don’t get completed, your programs don’t get filled and the clients, that need to be working with you, won’t find you.

You’re better off moving forward on the wrong project than on none at all.

I Hate Being A Solopreneur

I was speaking to a colleague the other day.  Like me she’s a coach who works with other business owners.   We hadn’t spoken for about a year, so I was happy to catch up.  When I asked her what was going on in her life she told me that she was looking for a job in the corporate world.  She missed the predictability of a job.  She was tired of making decisions and she missed the regular paycheck.

In some ways I can relate.  Running your own business is often difficult, but I find the rewards outweigh the difficulties.  All in all I love being an entrepreneur, but there’s one thing I can’t stand…being a solopreneur.  It gets lonely!  It’s so easy to spend your day alone and lost in your own world with no perspective about what’s going on around you.

3 Big Struggles…Revealed

It’s sad but true.  Entrepreneurs run around struggling to master three things to have the business, revenues and clients they desire.

1.     Perfecting their sales strategy.

2.     Developing and executing the perfect marketing plan.

3.     Filling their pipeline so that clients are ready to work with them on a consistent basis eliminating huge month to month swings in income.

It is absolutely true that you need sales and marketing along with a full pipeline, but this isn’t the core issue.  The real problem is the chaos you feel as you move through your day trying desperately to manage all of those moving parts.

What to do first?  What’s the best way to increase revenue?  How are you going to get all of these things done?  What’s the fastest way to bring in clients?  What will you actually be able to finish?  What’s going to give you peace of mind?  How to get yourself focused and moving?  How to do all of this and manage the business you already have?

I have decided to host a teleseminar, during which I’ll discuss just how to stop struggling and start making the money you deserve by showing you how to identify what’s going to be most profitable for your business.

Now the really exciting part…during this teleseminar you will have the opportunity to ask me questions about your business and have me laser coach you right on the spot.

It’s time to stop sitting on it

My coach says that indecision is a form of self abuse.  When it comes to your business, indecision can also lead to an empty bank account.  How many decisions are lying around your desk or swirling around your brain?  If you don’t decide YES or NO the decision stays in limbo and you’re left unsure of your next steps or doing the wrong things.

Chaos to Cash Strategy:

It’s time to decide!

How long have you been saying, “I’ll make that decision later”?

Where has it gotten you?
